‘In Fabric’ Masterclass

Take a deep dive into fashion victims, desire, bodies and consumption.

Back in the good ol’ lockdown of 2020 we presented an exclusive online event for fashion victims, film fetishists and anyone with a haunting affection for department stores. The triple bill included an online screening of Peter Strickland‘s seductive, consumerist satire, In Fabric (2018), followed by a live conversation between the director and film critic Alexandra Heller-Nicholas, and a public masterclass with Strickland and In Fabric costume designer Jo Thompson (This is England, Little Birds) on fashion victims, desire, bodies and consumption with Dr Ricarda Bigolin, Associate Dean of Fashion and Textiles Design at RMIT and fashion artist Adele Varcoe.

In Fabric is available to watch here via Kanopy (for selected library memberships – check with your local library) and if you’re looking for Strickland’s In Conversation you can catch it here.

Presented by The Capitol and Arcadia Film.
